Suspended high above the diners in the restaurant area of Langstone’s historic The Ship Inn, an old wooden clinker-built skiff named Patch rests in permanent dry dock. It is a local fixture, looked up at by thousands, yet often fading into the background hum of a busy tavern. This piece reclaims Patch, pulling it out of the shadows and placing it front and center. To ground the vessel back into the very fabric of the building that has sheltered it for years, the image is layered with the heavily scuffed, deeply scratched wooden floor directly beneath it.
