Fjord Verdigris

£350.00

The Story

Photographed at a historic working shipyard along Norway’s Sognefjord (61°17'23.8"N 7°19'31.9"E), this expressive piece captures the raw, enduring soul of coastal boatbuilding. The yard is a realm of living heritage where wooden fishing vessels are painstakingly restored, workboats repaired, and replica Viking ships brought to life. By physically fusing the sculpted brass propeller with the heavily textured grain of a vessel's weathered wooden planks, the image tells a story of metal and timber bound together by decades of salt, tide, and trade.

The Style

An accentuated high-texture ‘grunge’ photo-composite that leans boldly into abstract expressionism. Horizontal wooden planking bleeds through the heavy brass hub, creating a multi-layered patina of verdigris teal, oxidized rust, deep ochre, and crimson. The intense contrast between dark distressed textures and burning red accents give the composition a visceral, tactile depth, transforming industrial components into a vivid visual tapestry.
